Guyana (September 8, 2019): Shoaib Malik-led Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) cruise to an eight-wicket win over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SNP) in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) T20 2019.

Shadab Khan and Hetmyer Shine As GAW beat SNP 

Young leggie Shadab Khan was once again excellent with the ball as Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) beat St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by eight wickets. Hetmyer was superb with the bat in hand.
Shadab bowled four overs for just 20 runs and picked up two wickets while Hetmyer smashed 70* off only 47 balls with seven 4s and three 6s to chase down the target in the nineteenth over.

Carlos Brathwaite-led St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SNP) won the toss and decided to bat 1st on a batting-friendly Guyana track. Kjorn Ottley and Lewis couldn't give a good start to the visitors and departed for 15 and 9 respectively. Thomas played a superb knock of 62 runs. Fabian Allen once again came to the party as he smoked 33 off just 19 balls to propel SNP to 153/8 in 20 overs. For Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW), Shadab Khan once again bowled a brilliant spell. He conceded only 20 runs in his four overs and picked up two wickets as well. Chris Green bowled an economical spell. He conceded only 18 runs in his four overs and picked up a wicket. Ben Laughlin picked up two wickets but, went for too many (44) runs. 
GAW openers started the chase with good intent. Brandon King (27) and Hemraj (39) formed the platform for someone like Shimron Hetmyer to come and smack it all around the ground. And guess what? Hetmyer obeyed it by scoring 70* off just 47 balls with the strike rate of 149. Shoaib Malik, The Guyana Amazon Warrior's captain, played sensible cricket by just giving the strike to in-form Hetmyer. The skipper scored 23 runs off 20 balls to help GAW cause. Guyana Amazon Warriors chased down the target with eight wickets in hand and seven balls to spare. 
Shimron Hetmyer was crowned man of the match for his brilliant knock of 70* and with that GAW climbed up to the 2nd spot in Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2019 point table while SNP slipped to 5th spot bearing their second straight loss.
