"We will still take a lot of positivity from the series defeat. When we came here, cricket pundits all around the globe were saying that we are 280 runs team. But I am extremely happy how our batting has improved and performed during the whole series."
When asked about the reason behind shameful series loss, he replied " Obviously the pitches were suitable for batting but the bowlers were too ordinary. The main difference between the two sides was fielding. I thought England fielded really well. On the other hand we were very ordinary. You can't win mega events with this kind of sloppy work in the fielding. We will have to improve it in no time.
When last time Pakistan came here, they were defeated in the 1st match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 by India and from that performance they had nothing to take as positive. But they clicked and outplayed every team they faced during that tournament. At present even after the 4-0 defeat against England, Pakistan can claim a lot of positives particularly in batting. The way Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq and some experienced pros like Shoaib Malik and Muhammad Hafeez have performed is a great sign for them. And indeed after England it's Pakistan at present who are well adjusted and well settled with the weather and the conditions out there in the World Cup host country.
