Misbah Ul Haq Steps Down from PCB cricket committee
Veteran Pakistani batsman and former Test captain Misbah Ul Haq, on Monday, informed media that he has applied for the vacant post of Pakistan cricket team's head coach. But before applying for the post, according to the law, he has stepped down from PCB Cricket Committee.
Misbah is in the race of strong candidates for the post along with Australia's Dean Jones and Waqar Younis. He was given the command of 17 players camp held by PCB earlier, which suggests that he has strong case as compared to the other applicants.
Reports state that after Misbah Ul Haq applied for this post, Waqar Younis expressed that if Misbah Ul Haq was also in the race than he would prefer bowling coach vacancy.
As far as Dean Jones chances are concerned, PCB officials in a statement Said that they would prefer a local coach instead of foreigner.
All these signs suggest that Misbah Ul Haq has the fair amount of chance to become Pakistan's next Head Coach.
Talks are on inside PCB that the head coach will also be given the responsibility of chief selector. This news has increased the number of applicants from locality as well as foreign regions.
Misbah Ul Haq Suited for Pakistan Head Coach Job or Not?
Now the question arises if Misbah Ul Haq is suited for the post or not?
Many former Pakistani players have criticized Misbah Ul Haq but some of the the current players stood by him.
Ramiz Raja, the former Pakistani opener batman and current commentator has suggested that Misbah Ul Haq's defensive technique is not suitable for modern era of cricket. According to him Misbah Ul Haq had defensive mind set while he captained team Pakistan and also he had defensive approach with his batting.
Wicket keeper batsman Kamran Akmal stood by Misbah Ul Haq. He said that Misbah Ul Haq's vast experience in domestic and international cricket would be beneficial for Pakistan cricket team. Kamran said that at present Misbah Ul Haq was the best choice at the moment.
Misbah who represented Pakistan in 75 Tests, 192 ODIs and 39 T20s, was one of the most consistent and dependable batsman in Pakistani line up during his career. He is known as "The Man Of Crises" for Team Pakistan. Misbah Ul Haq along with another legendary batsman Younis Khan provided the much needed solidarity in the middle. They won many test and ODI matches for their country.
Moreover, Misbah Ul Haq is cool headed guy. He can remain calm and control the tricky situations well.
Misbah Ul Haq - The perfect replacement for Mickey Arthur
Mickey Arthur's contract was not expanded even-though he requested for it. He is one of the few successful coaches in the history of Pakistan cricket. After team Pakistan failed to qualify for the Semi Final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Mickey and his support staff had to step down form their positions.
In Mickey Arthur's tenure, Pakistan won ICC Champions Trophy 2017 and had some great success in T20Is. They won 11 consecutive T20I series.
After his departure, Pakistan needs a head coach with cool and calm head and good discipline and Misbah Ul Haq is one of those blokes.
According to the situation Misbah Ul Haq is the right man for Pakistan head coach job and hopefully he will get this responsibility.
